Who Am I Today?

by Kevin D. Crone

reset

I am a blank sheet of art paper today. No one can tell you or I that we can’t create a good day to add to a great life. Sure, so many years in business and my past times have me recalling past victories, great family times, loving grand kids, some financial success, great friends and great relationships.

This all gives me spirit to continue to:
• create and set new goals
• see problems as opportunities
• keep moving forward
• forget some bad times and move on

This is a new day and year to create new memories and feelings.

Sure you and I haven’t met every goal. Sure we have had some bad times. The older and hopefully, more mature I get, I realize everyone has those. It’s part of life. But what should you and I concentrate on? To be successful, or even just okay, or do we need to focus on how we have moved on at every juncture? What did we learn? What does that open up? We need to remind ourselves of what we have added along the way, and every day at the beginning and end, we can remind ourselves of all of this. So what is that next chapter for you and I? Let’s give this concept a shot.

First off, think of what has been important to you. What have you learned that helped you move forward? Knowing that, what’s now possible? What are some new goals? Without them, we’re holding ourselves to the past… and the present might not be that hot either!

As an example of how to move forward, just today I sent a big thank you to a giant in my industry – Ralph Nichols. Ralph always moved on. He’s a great leader in Detroit. Detroit is a big comeback story. It’s a thriving, booming place. Ralph, like Detroit, is always moving forward, creating a new future. Any problems, tough as they were, he moved on. What a winner. He built many people and was a giant producer.
For me, we need to always be starting again. A new day, new month, new year. It’s the journey. We can’t give the canvass to the world to do with it what it wants. We are the creative artist.

For many a year, I started every day with a pep talk. It’s a bit personal but here it goes:
“Good morning God. Today is going to be the best day of my life. Tomorrow will be even better. I choose to cram in all the important things that need to be done. (Typical me). I will start with the most important. Which is————– Thank you for ——————- (usually family, friends, my team, etc.).”

This habit started my day. If I didn’t get me going, no one else would. It’s my responsibility. Without taking this responsibility I would naturally be cynical as time went on. The bad times, problems, circumstances would all shape me. So, reflecting on the good past is good but resetting the day is even better.

mmm-action
How about starting tomorrow with a pep talk? Try it for a week and see what happens.
Create a great week. I know Ralph is creating a great one. Thanks for the inspiration Ralph.

Have a great week!
