Small Business Success Story
Exceeding Last Year’s Revenues by Over 25%
A success story of when an adjusted stratagey and business design combined with building the discipline to execute can create success and bottom line results within months.
The story:
Working World began as a training company that was growing, but at a more moderate pace than previously in their history. The owner, Josie Kocsis, knew that something needed to be done to breathe new life into her business.
She began talking with the Dale Carnegie Business Group about what direction to take to grow her business and increase margins.
It started with Josie taking a hard look at her business reality and where she wanted to go with her organization. Her team uncovered that they had a great deal of underutilized talent that could serve more customers, but they lacked the design and plan to get there. Together with the Dale Carnegie Business Group, and the collaboration of the team, she redesigned the business. She put plans in place to strengthen the offering to the market and brought strategies to grow.
She then realized that, personally, as a leader, she needed to adapt to this new business design, and engaged in a coaching process through the Dale Carnegie® Course. This process allowed her to coach a change mindset with her people, build them to take on new challenges and think differently.
Josie also realized that she couldn’t be solely responsible for sales and needed to get more bench strength to access new markets. She enrolled one of her people and herself in the Sales Advantage process, which guided them to put an effective structure in place to access new markets, and communicate their offering to the marketplace. This was a major step forward in gaining new business.
As the business grew, she found herself doing more and more tasks not matched to the leader of a growing organization. She worked on her business structure “who does what” and built accountability into her team driving the business rather than overlapping each other and doing a great deal of work herself. They participated in the Dale Carnegie® Course, while Josie participated in the Leadership Training For Managers project to receive training and coaching on being a better coach and leader.
Josie proudly states, “We added seven new accounts in the last couple of months and continue to exceed last year’s revenues by over 25%. We’re excited about the fact that once these accounts are setup, they become residual income accounts as long as we continue to effectively service them. We just need to continue to target new accounts.”
She now has a business design that accommodates this volume of business, and has people that capably execute the delivery. Josie added, “We continue to use Dale Carnegie® for all staff, and continue with coaching to keep new ideas flowing and creating effective processes. We couldn’t have done all this without collaborating with the Dale Carnegie Business Group.”
