Success, Health & Happiness – How you can achieve all 3!
You have heard the answer before. It is the most overlooked, misunderstood, yet important aspect of life. We all want to be happy, productive, healthy, and successful right?
Are we okay when we have things like a new car, our own house, career, good money, or a thriving business? Yes. We tend to see things as being okay. What happens when things get difficult, or plans don’t work, or our health isn’t what it should be? When customers aren’t buying? When the business isn’t doing as well as it should be?
That is when things can get toxic. And nothing — whether it be our business, our team, our relationships, our bodies or our success — and no one can survive too much of a toxic environment without breaking down.
Your thoughts are powerful; they can make heaven of hell or hell of heaven. Negative or toxic thoughts can send you round and round in your head repeating the same old bad story, disregarding anything that builds you up or makes you mentally or physically happy. It has been said that people don’t have heart attacks — they have thought attacks.
I am no scientist but from what I have studied, your thoughts can create too much adrenaline, which in turn creates negative acids that cause your cells to work harder to adapt to the declining pH. That produces bacteria, yeast and fungus. They create waste products and debilitating acids that pollute your inner environment. Outcomes can include diseases and heart attacks. This is oversimplified, but you get the point: our thoughts can send us down a path to destroying our health.
I am not saying that disappointments aren’t real, or that going through life with a ‘Pollyanna’ mindset is the answer. I am saying that life doesn’t go exactly the way you want it to go — it just goes. Let’s not dwell so much in the emotional interpretations, though, so that we can’t see the reality of what’s next. Stuff happens — now what? Breathe in, breathe out, and get into action. Think: “Where do we go from here?”
Some people hold onto bad experiences so tightly that they become the mental background noise for everything that a person sees, hears or reads. They begin to mold their worldview in that negative frame.make claims as to how the world is . You’ll notice when we expect bad things, we usually find them. Rarely do we realize that we ourselves created the environment for that toxic thought to germinate. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
- Take time to remind yourself of what is important to you. Your family, your team, the customers, the business, having fun and enjoying good health — so you can appreciate what you have while always moving forward to success.
- List your priorities. At my time in life, your health and family (especially grandkids) are going to be up there on your list. Keep your priorities balanced; otherwise you will experience too many stresses, and that causes the toxic environment that creates a tough life and ill health.
- Fill your mind with what you learn and experience about the concerns that make up your priorities. In my case, just being with or remembering times with my grand-kids fills my mind with thoughts and feelings of hope, peace and love. Of course I am concerned about my grandchildren, as all papas are. But I have to nurture the good thoughts, or concern can become anxiety and worry, and my face, language, stomach, and overall troubled thinking will show and dictate my life.
- It is up to you and me to keep our pH right — and in this case, I mean: Positive Head. Just as it is up to you to keep your pH balanced in your body so you don’t suffer too much acidity from how you think or what you eat and drink.
- Count your blessings often.
- Give yourself positive talking-to’s by reminding yourself of past successes and your strengths, and how you will proceed on. This self-talk will help you get out of bad places. Let things go so you can move on.
- Get more attentive to your job, the team, your customers, the business , and all the challenges that come with them. This may save your attitude and health, as you prevent your stresses from hurting you. So find happiness in your work. Learn, study, take on something new or interesting. Step up and re-think the business so it helps customers better. You spend the majority of your life on the job — so learn to enjoy it.
- Find out about the power of enthusiasm. Nothing great can be achieved without it — as a matter of fact, it’s difficult to handle daily life without it. Put more enthusiasm into everything. Watch what happens.
- Create fewer toxic thoughts this week. Monitor how you are thinking.
- Put more life-affirming thoughts into the environment you create by applying a couple of the principles above.
