The client will bring the consultant up to speed on any performance-based issues, and then the consultant takes in the information, analyzes and recommends solutions. The solution or intervention must be linked to the business goals and needs of the company or organization for the process to work.

Together, the consultant and client identify the gap that exists between what should be happening and what is happening. The performance consulting system usually improves employees in several different ways.
